FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you have any further questions about recruitment or the pledging process, please feel free to contact vprecruitment.apo.db@gmail.com.
Who can join?
We welcome all majors, backgrounds, and classifications of students. You can even be in another social fraternity or sorority. The only criterion is that you have an earnest desire to help out those in need and devote time to chapter activities.
Should I attend recruitment?
Pinning is the only mandatory event, but other recruitment events are strongly encouraged. The fellowships and service projects are designed for you to receive a glimpse of service and friendship in our chapter. All information meetings are identical, so there is no need to attend more than one.
What is Pinning?
Pinning is the ceremony where you become an official pledge of Alpha Phi Omega. Dress for the ceremony is business casual.
How much does it cost?
As a pledge, you will owe one payment of $115 prior to initiation. These dues go toward events, food, gifts, and other activities during your pledging period. Once you become an initiated member, dues are only $100 per semester.
What is the time commitment?
The pledging process is 8-10 weeks long. On average, pledges can expect to commit 2-5 hours per week to the fraternity. Pledges are required to attend weekly pledge and chapter meetings every Tuesday evening. An in-depth list of requirements is given during our information meetings.
Will I get hazed?
Absolutely not! Our chapter follows the national and campus policy of zero tolerance. You will never be asked to do favors or perform personal service for initiated members.
